The Tayrix Smart Protected Farming Irrigation Controller manages the hydroponic irrigation system by controlling the water pumps and solenoid valves, that are part of the greenhouse nutrient system. Irrigation control in a hydroponic Greenhouse needs careful attention when compared to soil-based systems, due to the smaller root zone volume, greater water-holding capacity, and a higher dissolved oxygen concentration in the nutrient solution. The controller can support up to 2 zones with each zone having a dedicated nutrient tank.

Hydroponics generally requires on-demand irrigation as per the crop water requirements The crop requirements are correlated with the environment using parameters like temperature, humidity, vapour pressure deficit, or solar radiation. The Irrigation Controller replenishes various elements that are in storage in the root zone and provides a mass flow of such materials through the conduit or tray, as the case may be.

The irrigation times and durations for each zone can be timed independently. The controller synchronizes the pumps and solenoid valves of that specific zone as per the calendar schedule. The controller executes all the irrigation tasks in a sequence and then repeats the sequence as per the schedule.

The Irrigation Controller can be integrated with the Dosing Controller for a fully automated nutrient and water management system. The irrigation runs are tracked on a cloud-based platform and monitored through a mobile app for real-time irrigation analytics. The irrigation controller ensures optimal usage of water and power resources, helping the grower with real tangible cost savings.
